We have had a couple of busy days and I always find it very tiring walking around New York City as it is so darned BIG!! Today there was clouds in the sky with a “maybe” of snow showers in the morning but none was to be seen. Sigh. We visited the observation deck at the “top of the rock” (Rockefeller Centre) and it was very cold up there. The whole day was 0 degrees and I guess it was a bit cooler high in the sky. The views are awesome but very grey and cloudy.
We also took the Rockefeller Centre walking tour which was about an hour. I learned many new things. There is actually 19 buildings that make up the Rockefeller Centre! We got some great information about some of the artworks and the Christmas tree. Here are some pics.
A visit to the Big Apple would not be complete without shopping in Tiffany. That store was crowded. We took the lift up (there are actually 6 floors) and went to look at the Christmas decorations. We bought 2 (snowman and Christmas tree) as well as 2 Christmas coffee mugs. We can’t get the giftware they sell here back in Australia. We also stopped by to look at the Tiffany diamond on the ground floor. All 128 carats of it. The store was also decorated beautifully.
To end the day we sat at the bar at the Plaza Hotel for some drinks. Pricey but awesome (I won’t reveal how much but if you are curious, let me know :)). That hotel is also beautiful and very, very busy. Hubby ordered a scotch and they made a round ice cube right in front of us in this special machine. The ice cube was about the size of a cricket ball. One of the most interesting things I have ever seen.
